He'd been watching her for two years. Tonight, he stopped pretending it was nothing.

Tonight, she was there. At The Vault.

Qistina noticed Raffa's sharp gaze fixed on her. Intense. Focused. As if he were studying her appearance tonight, from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. She didn't know when Raffa had started watching her.

She didn't know when Raffa had started coming to The Vault more frequently.

Qistina continued singing the next song, one she had composed herself. A song about the story of a lonely girl trying to find a glimmer of light in her life. In the darkness. The lyrics of that song were actually about herself.

Like an outpouring of her heart.

They looked at each other. Raffa didn't look left or right at all. He didn't laugh. He didn't smile at all. His expression was serious. Full of appreciation.

As if the lyrics of the song had pulled him into the world of imagination Qistina had created.

Raffa was thinking about something, his gaze still fixed on the girl.

He wasn't angry about the bump. He wished it were that simple.

He was angry with himself. With the way he felt whenever she was near him. A feeling that had haunted him every single time, without fail.

Her voice. That song.

Her soft smile. Her black hair.

Her skin.

Her eyes.

Everything.

Everything about Qistina.

In a corridor. In a lecture hall. In a dream he'd wake up from with his jaw locked and his chest hollow.

The dream. It pulled him into another world. He became another version of himself. Also another version of Qistina. As if they had already been destined. As a couple. Impossible to be separated anymore. A fate already written.

Their breaths merged. The embrace he didn't want to let go of. Let them stay like this. Skin touching skin.

He imagines the heat of her body against his, the sound of her breath hitching as his hands map every curve of her. He imagines burying his face in her neck, the softness of her skin, the way she would whisper his name in the dark. It's an overwhelming, obsessive hunger, a need to claim every inch of her until she forgets there was ever a world before him. He wants to ruin her for anyone else, to keep her locked in his arms forever.

Then he saw his mother. His mother's smile. But not for long. The image of his mother disappeared. He would surely wake up from his sleep after that.

Why her? His jaw shifted.

It wasn't like the other girls. It wasn't like anyone.

He'd spent two years trying to put a name to it, only to come up empty. There was something about her he couldn't explain, and that was what burned the most. Because if he couldn't name it, he couldn't control it. And Raffa Fathurrahman had never been able to live with anything he couldn't control.

So he watched her.

From a distance. From the back of every room. From the moment she stepped off that bus in the morning until the moment she disappeared behind her apartment door at night. Two years of watching. Two years of letting her avoid him. For two years, he'd told himself he'd wait for the right moment, only to find another reason to hold back.

She had no idea.

None of them did. No one was supposed to know anything about him.

Not the name. Not the blood. Not the family. Not who Raffa Fathurrahman actually was. He'd spent his whole life making sure of that. But her, he'd been hunting for since that first night. The night she was never supposed to see him at all. The night she wasn't supposed to remember.

And he knew she probably heard it. What he said that night.

And tonight, standing ten feet away from her under the amber light of The Vault, watching her sing in that red dress, he finally stopped pretending.

He was done waiting. He was done letting her avoid him. He was done watching her slip through his fingers like she was something that had never been his.

She was his. She just didn't know it yet.
